Saina guides hosts BPCL to victory

Pune, Jan 22 (PTI) World No. 10 Saina Nehwal guided hosts Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) to a comfortable 3-0 win over ONGC in the group league stage of the women's team event at the 29th PSPB Inter Unit Badminton Championships, here today.
Saina defeated Ruth Misha 21-10, 21-14 while teammate Jwala Gutta beat Ashwini Ponappa 21-18, 13-21, 22-20 to give BPCL a 2-0 lead.

Gutta later teamed up Shruti Kurian to beat Ashwini Ponaapa and Nitya Sosale 21-13, 21-17.

In men's team event, BPCL defeated Oil India Limited 3-0 to clinch the third place.

Aditya Prakash beat SDS Krishna 21-14, 21-15 and Arvind Bhat then got past Anshuman Hazarika 22-20, 21-15. Bhat and Anup Sridhar next teamed up to defeat Krishna and Hazarika 21-17, 21-17 to secure third place.
