MALAYSIA'S challenge in the China Masters folded as the three remaining pairs crashed out in the quarter-finals in Changzhou yesterday.

Gan Teik Chai-Lin Woon Fui found the going tough against second seeds Cai Yun-Fu Haifeng of China and suffered a 21-11, 21-13 defeat in just 27 minutes in the men's doubles quarter-finals.

Hendra Gunawan-Joko Riyadi eliminated Khoo Chung Chiat-Tan Bin Shen with a 21-15, 21-13 victory.

Women's doubles Wong Pei Tty-Chin Eei Hui appeared to be the only pair capable of reaching the last four but they were undone by a former China pair playing for Macau.

Pei Tty-Eei Hui, who were runners-up in the Japan Open last week, were beaten 14-21, 21-14, 22-20 by Zhang Dan-Zhang Zhibo.
