Chong Wei ready to take the plunge next year

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 27 -- Shuttler Datuk Lee Chong Wei, fresh from winning a silver medal at the London Olympics, is expected to end his bachelorhood next year.

The world number two is expected to wed former national top women's singles player Wong Mew Choo as both are rumoured to be planning to settle down after courting for more than a decade.

Chong Wei who claimed that he was ready to take the plunge, however, did not give any tentative date or place for the wedding.

"Maybe I will step down next year because there are no big competitions and start planning for the wedding. I am not young anymore," he told Bernama.

Mew Choo, 29, is now a coach at the Bukit Jalil Sports School after she quit competitive badminton last year.

"We have known each other for a long time. Sometimes I hardly have any time to dwell on the relationship so as to focus on my career and during such times it is normal to have misunderstandings," said the former world number one.

Why should Yu Yang quits badminton but not Li Yongbo or those dumpasses in BWF Management?

I just read the news that Yu Yang quits the love of her life - Badminton. As a huge badminton fan, this is a devastating news for me.  This type of scandal usually has nothing to do with players, they just follow the order from folks in the management. Top ranked badminton player like Yu Yang always play her heart out when she is on the court, so that she can make her country proud. Match fixing is not something new to the Chinese team, they were already able to manipulate the world men's singles badminton rankings with so many walk-overs so that they can have the maximum three shuttlers in the men’s singles at the Olympics.

Frankly, if this is not because of those  fans who attended the matches Tuesday night at Wembley Arena chanted, "Off! Off! Off!"  to incredulous television broadcasters and viewers watching around the world, you will not see this type of penalties. I hate to repeat things in my article, again, the walk-overs in Chinese men's singles really ticked me off, these walk-overs are obvious examples of impompetancy of Badminton World Federation (BWF), who introduced the badminton rules that full with loopholes (and don't bother to fix them), which the Chinese is taking advantage of.

At last, I think Li Yongbo (head coach of Chinese National Badminton Team) and those dumpasses in the BWF management should be fired. Li Yongbo migh not necessary be the one who alway pulls the trigger, but he is definitely the mastermind of all these manipulations and match fixings. As far as those dumpasses in BWF, not only they failed to response prompty when people alerted them about the walk-overs and the Chinese men's singles manupulation of the badminton ranking (untill audiences are chanting  "Off! Off! Off!" in Wembley Arena at the London Olympic), they also failed the badminton fans around the world  that they are not able to make badminton a prominent racket sports around the world. In so many countries, people still treat badminton a sports you play at your backyard when they are gathering or BBQing. We should not let these group of people to continue to run an organization that is so important to the sport of badminton and to continue to ruin our favorite sport, badminton.
