Lim Khim Wah and Hoon Thien How receive RM 1 million sponsorship deal

Kuala Lumpur: Former Badminton Associtaion of Malaysia (BAM) men’s doubles shuttlers, Lim Khim Wah and Hoon Thien How signed a sponsorship deal with three companies on Thursday – Absolute Protech Sports (M) Sdn Bhd (a local badminton apparel company); Agromate (M) Sdn Bhd (fertiliser company) and M101 Holdings Sdn Bhd (a property developer company) with a two-year term that worth RM 1 million.Lim Khim Wah (4th left) and  Hoon Thien How with their sponsors (photo: Kosmo)

Ronnie Chong, the Managing Director of Absolute Protech Sports (M) Sdn Bhd said they have faith in the shuttlers, that’s why they agreed to sponsor the duo.

“Under this contract, Lim Khim Wah and Hoon Thien How will play a minimum of 15 tournaments a year, and they would get some incentives if they make a good showing in tournament they competed,” said Ronnie.

Speaking to reporters, Lim Khim Wah wanted to perform better in the upcoming New Zealand Grand Prix Gold Open that kick off from April 28 until May 3.

“We really want to do well in the New Zealand Grand Prix Gold Open to boost our chances of qualifying to next year’s Olympics in Rio. Thanks to our sponsors, the deal really motivate us to do well in every tournament,” said Lim.

The 28-year-old Hoon Thien How also agreed that the RM1 millin deal is a timely boost for their careers.

“In order to qualify for the Rio Olympics, we need rack up more ranking points by playing in more tournaments,” said Hoon.
