JOHOR BAHARU, Nov 13 (Bernama) -- Familiar faces are poised to rule in the Proton Johor Open Badminton championship at the City Council Indoor stadium.

Leading the charge into the final tomorrow are the undisputed Malaysian No 1 men and women's singles players, respectively, Lee Chong Wei and Wong Mew Choo.

The men's doubles will also see a touch of similarity with the combination of Koo Kien Keat and Tan Boon Heong up against the veteran pair of Choong Tan Fook and Lee Wan Wah in the final.

Only the absence of the top women's pair of Chin Ee Hui and Wong Pei Tty from the championship has brought about a slight change to the women's doubles final match-up.

So, there was little surprise when Chong Wei came through his semi-final match against 4th seed Kuan Beng Hong with a 21-16,21-13 victory in 30 minutes.

And his opponent in the final is Mohd Arif Latif who overcame the challenge of third seed Chong Wei Feng in three games in scores of 13-21,21-19,21-10.

For Tan Fook and Wan Wah, their victory over Goh Wee Shem and Ong Jian Guo, the bronze medallist at the World Junior last year, is indication that they are still a force to be reckoned with.

"We are enjoying ourselves and even though we have had a two-month lay-off, we are still in the game. Our experience will come in handy," said Wan Wah.

Their opponent in the final is the No 1 pair of Kien keat and Boon Heong who beat reigning world Junior champion Mak Hee Chun and Teo Kok Siang.

Mew Choo, who is recovering from a knee injury, had an easy victory over Ooi Swee Wenn in her semi-final clash and will meet the No 2 seed Julia Wong in the final.
