Jakarta: The underdog Indonesians Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo and Marcus Fernaldi Gideon who unexpectedly beat Li Junhui and Liu Yuchen of China in the All England final two weeks ago, have shot up 4 spots to overtake Malaysia's Goh V Shem/Tan Wee Kiong of becoming the new World No. 1 men's pair.

Indonesia have been relying on Kevin and Marcus as their sole hope of maintaining their supreme tradition in men's doubles when former World No. 1 Hendra Setiawan and Mohammad Ahsan were split up after the Korean Open in September last year.
The newly crowned World No. 1 pair have won 54 victories as a pair and bagged US$249,701 in total prize money. The Indonesian duo has also accumulated total 73,051 ranking points since the 2016 New Zealand Open.
Besides the 2017 All England title, Kevin and Marcus also took home the India Open, the Singapore Open, the Australian Badminton Open and the China Open titles in 2016.
