KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia: Lin Dan won his third consecutive men's singles title to stamps China's dominance upon the World Badminton Championship on Sunday as his compatriots also won the women's singles and doubles crowns. World No. 1 Lin defeated Indonesia's Sony Dwi Cuncoro 21-11, 22-20 while Zhu Lin took the women's crown in her debut appearance at the meet, beating Wang Chen of Hong Kong 21-18, 21-12.

Markis Kido and Hendra Setiawan of Indonesia defeated South Korea's Jung Jae-sung and Lee Yong-dae 21-19, 21-19 in men's doubles.

In women's doubles, China's Zhang Jiewen and Yang Wei defeated compatriots Gao Guo Ling and Huang Sui, the defending champion, in scores of 21-16,21-19.

In mixed doubles, Indonesia's Nova Widianto and Lilyana Natsir defeated China's Zhen Bo and Guo Lin 21-16, 21-14, their second world championship title after their triumph in the 2005 series in Anaheim, United States.

In his moment of triumph, Lin said he has to work hard to keep his momentum going.

"I have always believed that there is no shortcut to success and like the others I want to win too. Against Sony today, I was in control, especially in the first game and there were moments in the second when Sony fought really hard," said Lin.

"But I held firm. He is a good player and even though he wasn't the favorite to make it to the final, he has put up some impressive performances in the tournament," said Lin, whose next target is the Olympic gold.

To reach the final, Cuncoro had beaten the crowd favorite, Malaysia's Lee Chong Wei, Denmark's Peter Gade and China's Chen Yu in the semifinals.

Zhu, the new women's singles champion, hardly put a foot wrong as she celebrated the biggest occasion of her badminton career, defeating fellow Shanghainese Wang playing with Hong Kong colors.

"My debut in the world championship and I ended up champion. Naturally I am very happy," said Zhu, who came into the tournament seeded fifth.

But one by the one those seeded above her fell including teammates Zhang Ning and Xia Xinfeng, the No 1 and No 2 respectively, leaving China's hopes on her shoulders.

In the men's doubles, Kido and Setiawan celebrated their third victory against the South Korean pair in their four encounters in the international arena.

"We knew it was going to be close because both of them have similar styles. The pair with the less mistakes would win and it was exactly what happened out there today," said Indonesia's coach Sigit Panmungkas.
