Despite a loss to Indonesian Sony Dwi Kuncoro, Peter Gade of Denmark still felt hungry about badminton, denying this edition was his last world badminton championships. Gade, the fifth seed, lost narrowly to ninth seeded Sony 22-20, 21-18 here on Friday.

"I had a good opportunity in the last point of the first game. If I can do that again, I will place it in the middle," said Gade.

"There are some points not going in my way. I am unhappy with my performance today," he added.

The 32-old denied that this might be his last tour in the worlds.

"I don't know yet. I am still very hungry about badminton. I want to get close to Lin Dan, I want to beat him and the other guys also," he said.

The winner Sony said he was more concentrated on the match and has no burden: "I know Peter is very tough but I just took it easy."

Sony sustained back injury in the Philippines Open and withdrew from the tournament then.

"I'm getting better and I hope I can make a comeback through the worlds." he said. "I used to have unstable showing but I hope this will change in the champs. Now I have done better job in straight attacks."

The Indonesian regarded Friday's victory a gift to his nation, as August 17 is the independence day of Indonesia.

On taking over Taufik's place, Sony said: "I hope the worlds might be a beginning and the worlds is indeed a good opportunity."

Sony won the Southeast Asian Games in 2003 and 2005, and lifted the titles of Asian Badminton Championships three times.
