Kuala Lumpur: Lee Chong Wei who played for Petaling Jaya BC in the Malaysia Purple League defeated reigning Malaysia champion Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin in straight sets 11-6, 11-5, 11-5, bringing Petaling Jaya BC from a 7-10 deficit to tie Petaling BC with a 10-10 final score.
After the match, former world number one Lee Chong Wei praised the performance of Iskandar and hoped Iskandar would continue to make improvement on the court.
“Iskandar had a very good 2015. However, I hope he remains enthusiastic in training to progress further. I think he knows what he wants, and he has shown strong determination.”
“Coaches can only help the player up to 20% to 30% only, it’s all up to the player if they want to achieve more. I suggest Iskandar should try to push himself to the limit for greater success.”
In the second tie on Thursday, Klang United dismantled Kajang BC by 9-3.
