NATIONAL singles coach Misbun Sidek is not interested in any talent scouting role.

However, he is prepared to take several players from the 2010-2012 Project squad under his wings and is confident he will be able to raise their level of play in one year.

And with the national team facing a shortage of coaches, Misbun believes he still has plenty to offer. The 2010-2012 Project squad is headed by his brother, Rashid.

Misbun, who currently coaches only Hafiz Hashim, has a proven record of turning back-up players into quality internationals. And this is an area which he wants to offer his services to the BA of Malaysia (BAM).

Roslin Hashim, Hafiz and Lee Chong Wei are among the players who have been transformed from unknowns to respected internationals by Misbun and he believes he will be able to do the same with other players if BAM has faith in his abilities.

"Focusing on just talent scouting will be very easy for me but we are already short of coaches now. I will be under-utilised if my focus is just on talent scouting," said Misbun.

"There have also been no clarifications on development. Should I be attached with the national juniors in Bukit Jalil, the world junior squad or the back-up players under Rashid? There has been no confirmation.

"However, I personally feel that some of Rashids players may be able to benefit from my training and I would also be able to help reduce the burden of other coaches.

"The world junior squad may not be ready to follow my training regime as they have just turned full-time but the back-up players have progressed. They should be able to take the workload and show improvement."
