Indonesia wins four titles at Indonesian Masters GPG

Palembang: With nine Indonesian representatives in the final of five events, Indonesia showed complete dominance by snatching four out of five titles at the Yonex Sunrise Indonesian Masters GPG that ended on Sunday.Vita Marissa and Shendy Puspa Irawati

Indonesia came short on the men’s singles title when Indonesian Firman Abdul Kholik failed to stop the fifth seed HS Prannoy of India by losing 11-21, 20-22 in 43 minutes.

 

Indonesian women’s doubles pair Shendy Puspa Irawati-Vita Marissa won the first match of Sunday by dispatching their junior compatriot Keshya Nurvita Hanadia-Devi Tika Permatsari in straight sets 23-21 and 21-13.

 

Vita’s success continued in mixed doubles with Muhammad Rijal where they managed to deny their sparring partner at national team – Riky Widianto-Richi Puspita Dili 21-11 22-20 in 42 minutes to clinch the title.

 

Captain for the 2014 Indonesian Uber Cup squad, Adrianti Firdasari finally won her first title of the year after crushing another younger Indonesian Ruselli Hartawan 21-14 and 21-14. Both Firdasari and Hartawan are currently training under the professional badminton club Jaya Raya.

 

Meanwhile, the first seed Gideon Mark Fernaldi / Markis Kido won a hard-fought, error-prone match over fifth seed Selvanus Geh / Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo 21-17, 20-22, 21-15 in 53 minutes to claim the men’s doubles crown.
