Unbelievably, the world no. 1 badminton player – Lee Chong Wei, is equally impressive at grabbing the spotlight not only with his superb skills on the badminton court but also with his unique fashion style. Two years ago, it was his bright yellow sneaker that started the yellow fever among all badminton fans. Now, he’s pushing boundaries once again by embracing a color traditionally associated with femininity: Pink.
A recent release of Lee Chong Wei’s limited edition pink badminton set, which comprises specialized clothes, a racquet, and shoes, has generated a lot of buzz. However, while for others it might be just a trend, the idea is much beyond a simple fashion accessory.
Pink color has long been marked as a feminine one, and thus, men sometimes felt like they couldn’t even try on that color. So, should male athletes wear pink jerseys? Indeed, the answer to this question is a definite one. It’s time to move beyond color limitations and allow athletes to express their individuality. Pink can be the symbol of energy, vigor, and zeal for victory, which are, in fact, the qualities Lee Chong Wei has in abundance as an all-round performer.
“This pink series has been exclusively designed for me, hopefully wearing the color can make a difference in World Championships,” added Chong Wei.
