The decision was made by coaches of the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) after their meeting on Thursday.

"It's a great honor to be able to lead the team. I'm going to do everything in my ability to strive for men's singles gold," said Wei Feng.

"We were so close in winning the Thomas Cup two months ago. This time, I want to ensure we don't miss out on the opportunities to win gold in mixed team event", added Wei Feng.

With the withdrawal of world number 1 Lee Chong Wei, Chong Wei Feng and Liew Daren are ready to continue Malaysia's supremacy in the men’s singles event.
