Chong Wei decides to play in New Delhi after all

PETALING JAYA: World No. 1 shuttler Lee Chong Wei will compete in the India Open, which begins in New Delhi tomorrow, after all.

The 30-year-old Chong Wei, who became a father on April 12, faces Ireland’s Scott Evans in the first round.

Chong Wei is expected to reach the final where he is tipped to meet Indonesia’s Sony Dwi Kuncoro.

Besides Chong Wei, the other Malaysian representative in the men’s singles is back-up shuttler Iskandar Zulkarnian Zainuddin. He has to go through the qualifying rounds.

The other Malaysians competing are Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong, Hoon Thien How-Tan Wee Kiong (men’s doubles), Woon Khe Wei-Vivian Hoo (women’s doubles) and Chan Peng Soon-Goh Liu Ying (mixed doubles).
