Indonesia won the men’s singles and mixed doubles during the all Indonesian finals on Sunday at the Indonesia Open Grand Prix Gold event in Palembang, South Sumatra, but missed out on the women’s singles title.
Sony Dwi Kuncoro, who is recovering from a waist injury, demonstrated his skills to beat defending champion Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka in the men’s singles 21-11, 21-11 within only 34 minutes.
In the mixed doubles final match, London Olympians Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir again showed their prowess against compatriots Mohammad Rijal-Debby Susanto to claim a 21-19, 21-14 victory.
Unseeded women’s singles shuttler Yeni Asmarani of Indonesia, who had previously stunned spectators by cruising to the final, finally had to bow out to second seed Li Han of China 12-21, 10-21.
