MALAYSIA’S top men’s doubles shuttlers Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong will have to take a long and hard look at themselves following their miserable outing in the Sudirman Cup.
Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) Coaching and Training committee chairman Ng Chin Chai said that he had spent an hour with the players and coaches in the dressing room after Kien Keat-Boon Heong’s loss to Lee Sheng-mu-Tsai Chia-hsin in the Group C tie against Taiwan on Sunday.
Chin Chai said that there were several factors which contributed to their defeat but “I told them it all depends on them now”.
An immediate change in attitude should see them get back on track for the World Championships in Guangzhou in August.

WORLD No. 1 Lee Chong Wei has urged his team-mates to move on after their disappointing outing in the Sudirman Cup.
Malaysia failed to make the quarter-finals after losing to Taiwan and German in the Group C ties.
“Everyone is down but we tried. I think our women’s doubles players (Woon Khe Wei-Vivian Hoo) fought hard against the Germans. We did not qualify for the quarter-finals. We have to accept this defeat,” said Chong Wei.
“It’s not that we lacked mental strength. I’m the most senior in the team and we have a relatively young side.”
Chong Wei, however, agreed with Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) Coaching and Training committee chairman Ng Chin Chai that discipline in the national team needed to be tightened.
“I agree with all that’s been said by Chin Chai. We need to improve the discipline of the players in the national team. It’s time to move forward,” said Chong Wei.
